of Nillumbik asked Council: Friends of Nillumbik ask, with the Green Wedge Management Plan now having been passed by this Council with an emphasis upon the consolidation of titles and discouragement of small lot development and with the Councillors at the March 22 Council meeting passing an amendment to Planning Scheme Review Recommendations to prepare a concise paper on small lot development to recommend actions to discourage the further rural residential development of small lots in the green wedge, how much progress have the officers made with regard to having these changes incorporated as policy into the Nillumbik Planning Scheme? We note that former manager Barry Green stated that this policy would be finished by the end of this year. Is this still the case? Cr Helen Coleman, Mayor, responded: Yes, Council anticipates that this work will be bought before Council by the end of the year for Council’s further consideration. Friends of Nillumbik asked Council: Friends of Nillumbik note that a child was knocked unconscious after falling from a horse in Eltham last week. Keeping in mind the fact that Councillors voted to leave open the dangerous Long Gully Creek crossing in PHBRS Friends of Nillumbik ask if Council is concerned about safety and especially liability issues? Cr Helen Coleman, Mayor, responded: Risk considerations have formed a part of Council‟s deliberations to date and will be ongoing. Council’s resolution back in June required „that Council officers provide a further report to enable Council to exercise its duty of care in respect to public risk management and mitigation with crossing Long Gully Creek. |
